Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information BiteKlip collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It applies to the BiteKlip web app and related APIs (the "Service").

1. Information we collect

  • Account data: email address, authentication provider (Google, GitHub, email+password) and Clerk user ID. This is managed by Clerk, our identity provider.
  • Content you upload: source videos, audio, transcripts, and generated clips. Stored on a persistent server volume and, optionally, AWS S3.
  • Usage data: project counts, processing minutes, IP address for rate-limiting, and standard server logs including request IDs.

2. How we use information

  • To deliver transcription, clip selection, and rendering.
  • To enforce daily free-beta quotas and prevent abuse.
  • To debug and monitor service health.
  • To contact you about your account or critical service issues.

2a. AI subprocessors

We send audio and transcripts to OpenAI (Whisper for transcription and GPT-4o-mini for clip scoring). OpenAI states that API inputs are not used to train their models by default.

3. Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with subprocessors strictly necessary to operate the Service:

  • Clerk (authentication)
  • OpenAI (transcription and clip selection)
  • Railway (backend hosting)
  • Vercel (frontend hosting)
  • AWS (optional object storage and database backups)

4. Retention

Uploaded videos, generated clips, and transcripts are retained for as long as your account exists, or until you delete the corresponding project. You may delete your account and all associated content from the user menu. Backups are retained for up to 30 days.

5. Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Authentication tokens are short-lived JWTs issued by Clerk. Media files are served only to their owner, via authenticated requests or short-lived signed URLs.

6. Your rights

You may request export or deletion of your data at any time by emailing hello@biteklip.com. Depending on your jurisdiction you may have additional rights under the GDPR or CCPA — we will honour valid requests within 30 days.

7. Children

BiteKlip is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes

We may update this policy to reflect product changes or legal requirements. Material changes will be announced in-product.
